Hey there!

I was just wondering if there is a way to listen to the various lines that instances bosses say. I'm mostly interested in this, because I'm pretty sure I'll never see Hyjal from the inside... and in most (well, in ALL videos) of said instance, there is a crappy soundtrack and you can't hear what the boss is saying. I know, I can look up most of the lines on wowwiki for example, but actually I'm more interested in their sounds. So my question is, is there any way to listen to these sound files? (legitimately, that is!)

My god, after re-reading my post... jeebus, it looks really bad, but whatever! Thanks in advance for all the help!

Many /hugs!

I have absolutely no idea, but I am guessing you can play them from somewhere in your WoW directory.

There are ingame commands to do it - on filefront, some guy (gnome I think) put up a notepad file with a full list... brb

Ok, name is Rickyk of Draenor (eu or US, i can't remember :S). Heres a sample:

/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\ShadeOfAran\\AranGameOver01.wav")

Not one you'll hear in normal play, its Aran's hard enrage ;)

Theres really not going to be an easier way than this, sorry:

Use ctrl+f to search the document for your boss.
Have it and a WoW window at half size next to each other.
C+V boss quotes into ya WoW :)

Its how I got the nice quotes - if you are into lore, ashbringer ones are nice :)

hey dudes, that notepad file is awesome!!!

I know it must be uber hard to get the files out of the game and play them without the game as a glorified music player, but i don't suppose anyone has any idea how to do it? I really want Aran on my phone as a message tone lol.

i am very sad. kill me. kill me now.

1. Google WinMPQ
2. Open C:\Program\World of Warcraft\Data\enGB\patch-enGB.MPQ with Winmpq.
3. Scroll down until you see something like this Sound\Creature\Zuljin\ZuljinWound06.wav.
4. Right click then extract and select a Folder.
5. Open your Selected folder and voila there you go.
NOTE: you can find other sound files in the other MPQs

Easiest way is to use MyWarCraftStudio, its like model viewer, but allows you to browse everything else except models. You can extract all sound files with a click of a button, after that, they are super easy to listen. :) Just use winamp and click "add folder" <3

WinMPQ (above) is easier as you don't even need to extract the files to listen.

Heh. Heheh. HehehehuhuhuhahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Yours sincerely,

If you got a Mac, you could always just download the WireTap Studio app from

http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/

The app is free, atleast for 30 days.
Very nice. Just type the script command..
""" /script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\HeadlessHorseman\\Horseman_Bomb_01.wav") """
.. in chat while WireTap is on rec. Then you'll get it just as good sound quality as it's from WoW.

May sound complicated, but it's darn easy.

I'm sure they're still wondering, a year later.
