It's not implemented in this patch, it is a future feature.

With regards to the frosty flying, here's my dream: 8 primordials, massive amounts of special cloth and not to mention getting vendor-bought mats for 12k on top of that. And then make the result 310% and non-exclusive. ^^

Too many people crying over these changes, yet they don't seem to grasp the reason behind it...

Blizz are preparing for Cataclysm and these items are all trivial by then...

Granted - might've been a tad bit early for these changes, but there you have it.

With the changes to the CD's on titansteel and cloth, demand for certain (but only certain eternals) you would expect to rise, this change seems to be in anticipation of that.

On my own realm after the epic ammo came out eternal shadow rose but eternal earth has stayed the same ( due to the huge supply of earth) , meaning us gnomeish engineers get stuck with a much lesser margin than our goblin counterparts but I'm sure the dev's saw that at the outset and it's all part of the goblins being better at making gold thing.

I don't expect to see many more people farming HC's just to have a 1 in 5 chance of winning an item that could get them an eternal.

As for it being a currency!?

Eternals drops rates and sources vary greatly is this meant to be a serious attempt to make them all cost the same? Where do frost lotus come into the picture? Okay on my server since this was announced ( and partly sue to increased drop rate), I've noticed there must have been a few individuals hording and possibly keeping the price high, since they are now hundreds of stacks of lotus. The price has fallen already by 10g and I expect will drop further since there is still a 30+g difference between frost lotus and any eternals. Still though, I don't expect eternals to rise that much or frost lotus to fall a whole load (least not once the orb stocks are used up) more given the huge difference in consumption there is between the 2.

With most players now frequently raiding the use of a flask is commonplace so that most players have consumed a couple of frost lotus any day they raid while eternals are mostly (there are exceptions) used in one off crafts so most players (except hunters and stoneblood drinkers) comsume eternals a lot less frequently.

With this in mind I would think most orbs will go towards frost lotus though on my realm orbs now cost more to buy on the AH than any of the eternals or frost lotus you could get for them if this patch goes ahead as is. This may be some people just not being fully aware of what the proposed changes are and/or acting on bad information or it may be that some crafters who make use of them are now placing a higher value on them.

If the dev's are serious about this being a currency surely they should be looking at all this a bit more and given the knock on effects this will have on other item values if they REALLY are serious about a making a professions currency then they should look at having more items exchangeable for orbs (such as titanium ore, gems, borean leather etc) as well as having each HC boss drop an orb.

As is I don't think this change will be enough to offset the increased demand for eternals from tailoring though it will lower frost lotus costs, though not by much. The "currency" supply is too tight for it to have much an impact.

BTW same guys who were dumping frost lotus were also dumping eternals but not nearly as much. I bought a load hoping that it will offset the overnight loss I'm suffering from my recent investment in 10 stacks of frost lotus (I had just reskilled as an alchemist but not herbalist). Not the first time I've had bad timing when it comes to profession changes but pls if you are going to up the supply of orbs so that eternals won't rise in price pls let me know on the QT so I can offload them :) otherwise I will be bankrupt and next time your possible heading for a mistake I'll keep quiet.

I guess this means its time to drop herbalism since you wont be able to make hardly any cash from it.

Since you're curious, we can reveal to you that the Frosty Flying Carpet recipe is currently intended to cost 6 Frozen Orbs and requires 425 Tailoring, so has a similar skill gain potential to the Magnificent Flying Carpet.

Unfortunately for non-Tailors, the carpet itself is Bind-on-Pickup and to make it requires one piece of each special cloth and 4 additional Frozen Orbs.

So that's:
  • 1 Ebonweave

  • 1 Spellweave

  • 1 Moonshroud

  • 4 Frozen Orbs
Of course, as this patch is still on the PTR this list of materials is subject to change.

If Carpet is BoP, I got confused with the underlined part.

Those should be the mats required to craft the Carpet. The other Frozen Orbs mentioned in the first post are required to purchase the recipe.

It's Puchiko's fault.

WHY Blizzard?? WHY do you nerf income for so many by doing this, AND up needing on frozen orbs??

I don't know what to believe...Frozen orbs are now more than Frost lotuses on AH, and lotuses will keep dropping in price...my main income on my main..:'-(

I hope there is some sort of compensation for us true gatherers (two gathering professions)....

This just happened to me: http://i47.tinypic.com/ezj4gn.jpg

Anyway, that hunter went on to say that the orbs can also be traded for frost emblems and other stuff, not only eternals and frost lotuses, and that we should check the latest patch notes. I've looked and can't see anything new, can someone enlighten me? Is that right?

Regardless, what a *********.

I have a serious issue with this change which needs to be addressed.

IF this goes live.. then you will find that every single person is going to be wanting these items.. if only to get them for components for flasks...
you need to ensure that these are NOT put in the standard Need/Greed box.
it should flag up as an auto roll for the party regardless...
even now.. we have different views on how these should be rolled on.

some say.. all greed as all can use...
then you have some idiot that still needs.. and then says thx bye suckers!! and off party

take this issue out of the equation pls... and ensure that these are put on a more even playing field for all , if you want them used by all.

especially where ppl are transfering from one server to another... you have different "polite-playing" on each one... one server.. it is custommary to all roll need... on others.. all greed.
if the confusion is taken out right at the start... we have a cleaner game.

Spend the orbs and receive 'ink of the sea' as well as a trade, this would be quite nice for me as an inscriptionist.

Some markets will become less profitable and some more so. So I will be doing less of the former and more of the latter. The trick is chosing the right stuff. I have a few things I will try and if they come off I should make a bundle, if not I will get my investment back at least (I estimate, but nothing is certain).

Should be a lot of fun in all.

Ps to the guy above - scribe not inscriptionist :)

No, you won't be able to exchange Frozen Orbs for Emblems of Frost.

Yeah it just takes one person to press Need after everyone's pressed Greed on the Frozen Orbs and you miss out. But the good news is that in patch 3.3.3 this won't be the case anymore -- the roll for Frozen Orbs will be an automatic Greed roll. Rejoice!

It would be so sweet if you ninjahotfixed that into the live servers now, the crying and rejoicing it would cause would be like the sweetest nectar of whiner tears.

There are tools designed for tracking such migrations.
Use those, then tell everyone on their new realm.

Saying Blizz fails and Wow is terrible just means you're too ignorant and immature to actually come up with an intelligent and logical reason why your suggestion may have been denied.
