Is it my imagination or are the loading screeens taking longer, particulalrly Hearth stones and teleports.
I recall wow's awesomeness that you would hearth and you would appear in the pub ready to rock.
Now we seem to have a loading screen when we hearth, portal, die etc.
The greatest trick Blizzard ever pulled was convincing the Karazhan Server the Alliance didn't exist. And like that, poof. They were gone!!

Addons certainly increase loading times by a long way. I recently reset all my addons and played with the client in a natural state. I was amazed how fast everything loaded. :>

Yep I done that recently aswell, I was shocked just how much my addons were adding to my load time.

I think Gardén was aiming for the quantity of loading screens we get. Try getting summoned from one part of Icecrown to ToC for example, and you'll get a loading screen. This used to be non existant in some past version of the game. ( It would give you a 1 second freeze or something, and then pop ya there. )

It would be nice to be able to see how long each addon loads. That way we can decide if it's worth to have it.
Is there something like this already (debug mode) ?
You always get a loading screen when "zoning", always been the case.
That includes:
- Death in an instance (zone from instance to GY)
- Hearthstoning to a diferent continent or TBC / Wrath zone.
- Portalling to a different continent or TBC / Wrath zone.
Some time back I imagined seeing the loading screen more often too,
However what actually is the case, at higher levels you "zone" far more often all over the world then when levelling where you spend way much more time on the same continent or even in the same zone.
Other then that: I cant remember when last I died outside an instance or BG.
Try it, set your hearthstone in Dalaran and hearth from Dalaran to Dalaran: you wont get a loading screen.

And how absolutely useless the default raid UI is. :-)
Whoknows: You can try http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info4939
Install it, go in your addon list and enable it, then log into WoW. Then do a /wu. To reload your UI and test again, do /rlnd .
Actually that depends on how fast your connection is and how many addons you have. on a fast connection / low addon you wont in most cases. on a slower connection or with many addons (and in server peak time) you certainly will.
Zoning always had a load screen, ie, going fromone of the below to another:
EK - Kalimdor - Outlands - Northrend - any Instance
my issue is teleport, summon, hearth etc in the same zone now have a load screen, when in the past they didn't seem to.
Tbh I can't remember when it changed, it just seems to have got more often.
Yes I understand the add ons, but I have not really changed them since end of vanilla, early bc.

All I've noticed is it's longer to load 'crowded' zones than others. So when I hearth to Dalaran it's never noticeably too long thing are still loading round about me even when it's supposedly fully loaded...
I've noticed the same thing but that might be my (lots of) addons.
Dalaran really takes unnaturally long to load though, even after the loading screen is over it takes a long while before you can move/do anything else properly. Is it because it's actually a zone in a zone and it has to load the entire Crystalsong Forest, or something?
