In the upcoming content patch, a new dungeon system will be added that will take the place of the current Looking For Group system. This will offer great new benefits to both premade and randomly created groups, including:
  • Cross-Realm Instances/Grouping
  • Instance Teleporting
  • Daily Random Dungeons
  • Group Disenchanting

Poked it already on PTR, seems to be an actual upgrade to what we have now. \0/
And looks like Blizz decided to push people into PUGs. Now just to wait for QQ about the "free" Emblems.

i do agree that its a good idea

but i fear the ninja looters will have a much easier time when pugging now

This is pretty darn stupid in my opinion, it's just as bad as being able to join battlegrounds from any place on the globe.

Having to travel to all the different locations might have been tiring to some, but Summoning Stones were invented for those people.
What you're doing now is you're detaching all the content from the actual game world itself making the entirety of Azeroth effectively a giant lobby just for hanging out in until the queue is up.

I haven't felt like I was actually in Ashenvale/The Barrens in WSG ever since I discovered battle masters who could magically teleport me to my destination from as far away as Outland.

You're making the game a much tinier place by doing this.
Remember: the first M in MMORPG means ''massive''.

Well Blizz added some safeties to that, by implementing need before greed together with that. I fear that ninjaing will be the case still, but if they want they can narrow it significantly.

Don't know though if you can switch to master looter last minute, but even if it is still the case, it still can get nurf bat if Blizz thinks it is "not intended".

In general I like the idea of getting it easier for the alts, not sure though if this will really work, PUGs can be pretty horrible.

Of course, the people who developed the system are morons and haven't thought of something like that. Surely they could not foresee that someone might abuse the system in that way and perhaps implement measures which would prevent that. Nooo, that is unthinkable!

Also, why would those groups be so full of ninjas, "nabs" or anything different than it is now? Since the LFG channel is also back, if you're scared of cross-realm ninjas you can simply look for a group in a normal way (/hello LFG channel), fill it up, join the LF dungeon system, get the emblems from the random dungeon quest and life goes back as usual.

And to the person who whined about the teleporting to dungeons - how do you expect people from different servers to summon other players from their group using a summoning stone? Obviously the teleport mechanic has been implemented to quickly transport people from various servers into an instance, of course after everyone in the group clicked they're ready and accepted the teleport.

Just go to the PTR, check it out, be reasonable and then comment. It won't suddenly become a heaven for ninjas or "nabs" or anything.

You won't be able to change the loot rules in a random group, so you won't be able to ninja stuff.

In my view this is an excellent feature.

Dont know the status on every server, but where i play the queued people in LFG util is quite few even for the daily hc etc. Cross-realm should improve this massively, just as it did with bg's.

Might be a bit unpersonal, and some people might be less responsible for their actions, giving they see that all other players are from another realm. But with the current option, where creating a group takes as much, or more, time as doing the actual dungeon i see the choice rather obvious.

And for those with ninja looter paranoia: If you dont trust the upcoming mechanic of checking if the player can equip the item, dont use the feature, create your own group the standard way. Problem solved.

If it's chosen through the Random Heroic option, yes, you can run it again. You can't manually select a heroic you've already run that day, though.

I think the new feature looks great for when I pug, especially if groups are formed as quickly as I suspect they will be. Hopefully the gear level matching will work well, even if it means slightly longer queues -- one of the reasons I've more or less stopped pugging lately is the difficulty in finding a group who don't expect everyone to TOC25 geared for heroics. I'd much rather have a relaxing run with people geared for heroics than feel I'm holding people back/get moaned at, even if it does take three times as long to complete.

My only disappointment is that, as I understand it, you have to start with a full party of 5 for the Random Dungeons -- this character is currently played exclusively with a couple of IRL friends, and we're (very) slowly working our way through 3-manning the heroics, and having a blast. Would have been nice to continue to get the extra couple of emblems (and use the teleport to dungeon feature when we're running late or out of reagents, etc!) I know you can choose to continue an instance without filling the slot if someone leaves/is vote kicked, so maybe they'll change it so you can start an instance without a full group, too.

Thank's for clearing that up.

But yeah if you make a group with friends from your realm, and go in there 3man, it won't be any different (i think). You just don't get points towards the archievment

You can do the random dungeons with a full 5man group you formed yourself, they only thing you won't get doing it this way is the points towards the Achievement for the Pet.

All you do is form your group, join the queue for random dungeon, system see's you have a full group, assigns you a dungeon and offers you the teleport option.

As I understand it if you have a 3man group and you join the random dungeon you can either take more players offered to you (you qualify for the achievement points) or you choose to 3man it and you get offered a random dungeon and you teleport to it (but no points towards the achievement pet).

Though why you would bother 3manning something it is easier with 2 extra people doesn't really make sense. Allow at least some interaction with strangers in an mmo..yknow, you always have the option to Vote Kick someone being a *ick.




Bad theorycrafting tells you nothing, good theorycrafting at least gives you something to think about.
Knowing the difference will involve some effort on your own behalf.

Does the new system let you look for groups for dungeons and raids below your current level? One of the big failings of the current system is that it doesn't support level 80s putting together raids to AQ, BT, MC etc. for rep or just for fun.
