Whirlwind can be dodged/parried but does no damage, only applies the dot.

People getting spiked + coldflame seems pretty ugly to deal with, once hard modes will be available.

Two tanks standing in front of him got impaled, bug aswell?

The fight is going to be a good start in the instance I think. Fires were cool, if it was up to me they'd be made random like the fires on Archimonde (but maybe that's overdoing it a bit).
The icy spikes is also cool, the damage is a little low but a good way to make sure your raiders are aware of what is happening around them (druid forms are cancelled when being spiked, atleast a feral druid complained about going out of bearform). The whirlwind is also a fine mechanic, but I never had to run as I was always on a safe spot? (at the gate entrance). I hope that in heroic we would maybe see some felmyst phase 2 movements!
Marrowgars' hp pool also seems fine for normal.

Whirlwind atm seems pretty pointless since you can basically hug the boss during whirlwind and take 0 dmg because first of all the impact does no damage(i assume this is a bug) and the dot keeps getting refreshed before it manages to tick. Perhaps make the dot stack instead of getting refreshed so the ability is actually meaningful as a part of the encounter.

Otherwise than that the encounter seems fairly decent for normal mode considering it's the first encounter in the zone.

25 player mode Trash up to him was ok, nice suprises, not to sure about the rubix cubes of death :D

we only managed 2 goes on the boss since the server shut down by the time our raid got on the server and reached him.

Damage was ok, spike damage didnt seem too bad and was easy to keep the members alive with a bit of healing until the spikes went down.
The frozen fire things were quite slow and easy to avoid, his damage on the tanks seemed reasonable aswell. It was kinda hard to see where the whirlwind was going as the boss is so big and he moves kinda slow. But was easy to avoid for the most part.

Seems like a nice fight to get us started, just wish we had a little more time to properly have a go without rushing after seeing the test complete in 20 mins message.

also while you are here, PLEASE fix the phase bug, it takes too long after a boss whipe for the rez sickness to go because we cant rez them when they die on the boss.
I dont understand why the phase bug is still on the PTR after so long.

BTW trash was easy, and could easily be aoe'd, would rather see some crowd control needed than more aoe packs.

Moonkin DPS = Roll a dice
If you roll 1,2,3,4 or 5, you dont do good DPS.
If you roll a 6, you have a 60% chance of doing good DPS.

Was doing 10man with some guildies, we got him to 60% (people kept leaving, ate up much time)

the trash was obviously bugged, little cubes
the large skeleton trash should hit a bit higher (in my opinion)

The boss itself was rather fun, obviously the whirlwind needs to hit alot harder :p
The spikes on 10 man heavily favour stacking more ranged, I would personally tune their health down a bit to 30k
It was a bit confusing having to regain aggro after the whirlwind, not sure if this was intended or not.

Other than that it seemed like a well balanced and fun encounter.

I sure hope you will fix the Impale animation. Right now it looked like the tip of the spike was going into character's ass, which is probably very painful. A stomach would be more suitable.

Didn't I read somewhere that the Chill of the Frozen Throne debuff shouldn't be a part of this boss encounter?

I personally didn't like the whirlwind as it's too random and too easy to avoid at the same time...


To the people whining about the phasing bugs, just go up to argent tournament and grab the quest for Icecrown Citadel and you should be able to see the entrance portals again.

As mentioned above, the whirlwind seems pointless cause it does no real damage and the bleed does only 2500 damage per 3 seconds (a druid can outheal that easily, even if it's 15 people failing).
Make the whirlwind bleed stackable, and cubes of death were fun.

Also is it intended to get help from NPC's at the entrance while clearing trash? And Tirion is only hitting for 5k. It's quite low for such a great lore figure who wields The Ashbringer...

I and several guildies had this bug, the funny thing, the fix for it was to pick up "Battle Before the Citadel" daily quest from the Argent tournament. When we got the quest, we were able to see the instance portal and zone back in when dead.

However, I agree. This needs fixing before it hits live, it's so annoying. The same also happens with the 5-man summoning stone, whenever I approach it, it disappears.

In fairness for the first boss of what is supposed to be a really epic raid, the bosses mechanics are extremely dull and uninteresting. With Ulduar we saw Flame Leviathan, which despite being an easy boss (and that was intention, nothing wrong with that) it was something totally new that hadn't been seen before.

Lord Marrowgar on the other hand has the same reused skeleton giant skin, and does mechanics that have been around since Deadmines. I understand that as the first boss he is meant to be easy but some more interesting and new mechanics would be better, instead of the same old same old, don't stand in the fire, don't stand in the whirlwind, don't stand in the cleave, and kill the spikes on people.

The trash on the other hand was pretty good, I'm assuming the rubix cubes are meant to be some sort of skeleton spiders. The giant skeletons that popped out the wall were pretty funny, more exciting than Marrowgar himself.

3.3 New Achievement!

I Choose you...no wait you...no u.

Defeat Steelbreaker, Runemaster Molgeim and Stormcaller Brundir within 10 seconds of each other.

If you can't handle Marrowgar on the PTR when you have 245/258 gear and BiS for your class, then you don't really have the skill/gear to be in ICC when it comes live.

09/05 - Ghostcrawler - 'If we nerfed Juggernaut into the ground (which we aren't going to do), then I think you'd see warriors collapse again. Maybe. '
