I was just wondering, if Battle.net will eventually allow us to chat to friends on different servers and even in different games, does this mean that we will be able to chat to players on our WoW server but of the oposite faction? And what, if any, implecations there are to this.

None, you can already do it by making a character on the opposite faction.

I'd guess that's possible yes, though it wouldn't surprise me if it needs consent from both sides before you can talk to someone with the new battle.net services. Much like how friends tend to work in general for services like these.

Also this.

The feature that allows you to talk to friends regardless of their faction, server or game is through Battle.net's "Real ID", which requires a mutual friendship.

But I have to have that character logged in while I chat, cross faction would allow me to chat on my main to a friend on the alliance side o ntheir main. Also, I thought some realm types didn't allow this.

Not really an issue, just interesting, wonder if there's any implication for PVP servers or events.

PvP servers these days do allow you to have both Horde and Alliance characters. It could actually be convenient for getting some old style Tarren Mill or Halaa PvP going on.

Nope that's true.

And I really hope they do btw, as I have alot of horde friends scattered across different realms. The only reason I don't play with them is because I can't afford both transfer and faction change at the same time.

Did any of you check out WorldofWar.net's feature about Battle.net 2.0? Even though it focuses on Battle.net's integration in SCII, there's some intriguing screenshots there:

In what way do these links answer the question? It doesn't tell us anything about cross faction chat possibilities? Or am I missing something?
I'm not an answer bot. I read the topic and this came to mind.

Picture is an obvious fake, no one would have Tom Chilton in their friends list...

Just a small question. I know that this feature is still in development - but will here be any possibility in future to chat from one WoW localization (for example Ru accounts) to another (for example common EU accounts). Like Azuregos-RU with Khadgar-EU. This would be awesome....missing alot of my friends.
p.s. you know...half of Russia in Europe of continent...so..i'm almost european :P

p.s. russian community managers ignored my question....

i hope you will fill my heart with hope...

Honestly, I personally have no idea at this stage and that might be why no reply has been forthcoming in our Russian language forum either. I'm sure we will release pertinent details in due course.

I'd really love to know if this works cross continent as well. I played on US servers before and my account there I already added to this battle.net account I'm posting from, I hope I will be able to chat with my old friends on the US realms from my EU account.

Also, with the change to WoW accounts to be battle.net instead, is it time to allow us to post on US forums with our battle.net accounts?
