Is it just me or do the rest of you notice that you have the same gear [sometimes better] than another class, like a Mage or Warlock? Yet you seem to do significantly less DPS...I know the answer to this, It's yes...

I'm rather frustrated with my class to be honest, I left American servers playing a Mage and thought I would give a shadow priest a shot when i migrated to EU, Now i am sitting in TOGC doing no more than 5.5k DPS on any given occasion [while my mage is wearing roughly the same gear can pull 7.5-8.5k]

Even though i have the same amount of spellpower 2.75k with Illustation of the Dragonsoul up, i have 4 piece T9 and 27% crit
[roughly 33% with talents i guess]

I really hope they plan on doing something about this to be honest it's a huge disappointment to think I have worked this hard gearing up a class that is not even adequate DPS. Come on guys, i am casting at 3200 spell power roughly fully raid buffed and not able to pull 6k? While a warlock in welfare epics can spam incinerate and do 5k effortlessly, I understand my class is a hybrid but then taking that into consideration..Moonkins are able to pump out 6-7k no problem, Ret Paladins can do more usually.

I'm being told that it is our spell co-effs that cause this lack in DPS but i would appreciate a response from a blue that does not include "delete your WTF" or "re-installing the game may help" :)

yea shadow dps isnt the best atm but its not that bad...

Thinking to your rotation do you refresh your dots before they run out or wait until they are about to run out and cast your spell so it lands just has old dot runs out.?

If you refreash your dots before they come out you clip your dots and will loose alot of dps.

Eg. VT, if you refreash this when there is stil 1-2secs on it you will loose the last tich and that will lower your dps...

Yes Spriests aren't really that good, welcome to the club.

I don't really see why people would bring Spriests if they had the choice between that and a good Moonkin. :< (3% hit)

VE healing can be nice sometimes, but meh.

What he means is why take a shadow priest over a moonkin,

we both bring the same buff and moonkins do ##%% tons more dps than we do :(

Yeah its kinda sad that every time we get a buff I get my hopes up. Then do the math and realise that the actual DPS increase will be insignificant.
Fact: we arent in line with other DPS
Fact: we arent in line with other hybrids
Fact: our lackluster DPS means we are unable to be justified for raiding (Heroic modes doubly so)
Fact: we cant even provide a significant raid utility that isnt brought by at least 1 other class (who does better DPS)

FIX SHADOW DPS.

Nearly every raid utility is brought by more than 1 class now, or even profession when it comes to buffs.

I can see there is a problem at higher levels. No offense but some of those who are complaining about it who are lower gear level than I am, shouldn't be seeing any problems yet, because I haven't, even though I can see why it can be a problem in heroic or hard modes. Maybe you can do something better before you give in to saying ITS BAD SCALING I TELL YOU!

Terrible Scaling to be honest, You need like close to 2.9 spellpower to be worth anything while others can pull it off with 2.5.

I won't tell you that shadowpriest DPS is good, because it ain't even decent, but you have to think twice about the other advantages that we bring when you go to a raid with us, instead of claiming that no one would even concider having a Spriest in their raid.

3% + spell hit
Mana regeneration
Some healing, not much, but it's there
Buffs (if no other priest is in the raid, might happen in 10 mans)
and so on

As you've said earlier we sure need some lovin' a "slight" damage increase would be apropriate
And by "slight" i mean huge!

Heh, heroics is probably the place where a shadow will be at it's worst.

But hey, GC suggest we dps the other add that doesn't have the skull which the tank put on so all dps'ers know what target to dps...

Any shadow priest who isn't multidoting on 2-3 mob pulls basically has no right to complain that their DPS is bad: they aren't using their class mechanics.

Sure, you drop MB and most of your MFs on the skull, but you should be keeping two dots on everything. In general I stick DP on the second DPS target so it will tick out. Ideally I refresh SWP with mind flay for added dps.

It's not like the fire mages aren't doing far, far worse by slapping living bomb on everything, and even the shamans are casting chain lightning. Shadow priest is still the best AoE spec there is (maybe second best to a well-played and motivated frostfire mage). Use it.

Nop, not only you.

Tier 9 geared here getting passed from tier 8 geared warlocks.

It feels like we cant evovle our dps much more atm, while warlocks and hunters are just getting higher and higher on the dps meter.

The 10% more spellpower from spirit didnt fix anything.

It's quite easy, get a warrior and a shaman who bursts down the mobs before your dots have a chance to work >.<

It has been obvious for quite some time that Blizz wants shadow to be just a leveling spec and for dailies, nothing more. That becomes obvious when you are able to decode GC's interviews.
I doubt we will see any improvemens in shadow dps in the future unless the aforementioned belief changes.
I am not that optimistic though.
