I love leveling in battlegrounds. After 5 years of playing this game and leveling 4 characters over 70 and countless others over 30 i'm getting a bit sick of leveling though quests that i've done many times before. Changing battlegrounds so that you gain exp was a great idea. It might not have been as fast as questing but it was so much more fun. But now with the nerf to exp gained in BGs it's really quite annoying.

Before the nerf I was earning a nice bit of exp and having fun leveling for once in years. I was playing the game I wanted to and progressing though it. IT WAS FUN! Now with the nerf to exp gained it just feels unproductive.

Please, please, please change the exp gain from battlegrounds back. Questing is not fun and it's hard to find groups for instances while leveling, even on my server which has quite a high population.

Infact I want to gain more experience though BGs. AV had the right amount of exp gain, but WSG, AB, etc... didn't and many people didn't bother with those unless it was to fill some time untill another AV was up.

There was nothing wrong with leveling in BGs. It won't stop people leveling by questing because questing was always faster and didn't require team help. Also the money gain from quests will still make people level that way. But for the players who enjoy pvp and don't really need the money from quests it was a great and fun alternative. Please give us more exp from battlegrounds again!

I can't think of a negitive thing about leveling in battlegrounds and why you felt the need to nerf it. Finding out about the exp nerf was a shock to me, I honestly can't think why you did it.

They thought it was too high and bgs wasn't supposed to be an alternative to questing. Imo it shouldn't have been changed coz it was the best thing to happen to wow in ages but hey nerf it. No wonder they get flamed so much.

The reduced experience in Alterac Valley is due to the fact that Battleground experience is based off of the level of the Battleground. Characters level 70-79 are no longer getting experience based on level 80 characters. As a result of this, we are now able to do an across-the-board increase to experience gains from all Battlegrounds in order to make sure that no Battleground feels too unrewarding in terms of experience. We have also made it so the experience bonus from heirloom items works properly in Battlegrounds.

On the battlegroups where one faction dominates AV, the experience gain was a fair bit higher than questing. I think the intention was always for questing to be faster, and also this is an irritating faction imbalance issue if one side can level much more quickly than the other.

Again, I think that that what was intended, if your faction is bad in BGs, is that you can quest and it'll be faster anyway. That wasnt the case.

Now, it seems that if you want honor/marks (i.e. to pvp at 80) you go to BGs, whereas if you want money, you do quests. That seems reasonable

Please tell your friends about this thread. This is something that would be so simple to fix and make work and make the players of this game happy. This thread needs more of a following.

I understand that there probably was someone who did calculations to determine how much exp we should get once the bracket changed. But it doesn't work. It's much less than we were getting before.

WOTLK... hum 5 beta characters and then 6 live characters and 3 more to come + 1 2 to 80 character done... and i feel that I am uncapable to quest any more in Northrend. I like Northrend its all fantastic, but I am fed up of same quests. I have done Fjord 1st, borean after, I have done all possible variations and I am by now like walking wowwiki.

I need a change and BG levelling was that change. I'd love to see it working properly!

I've been wanting a level 80 mage for a while, but after levelling so many alts (and as a 5 account multiboxer that's a lot of questing, even with RaF bonuses for some of it), I am utterly sick of the cookie cutter quest forms, that change so little between L1 and L80.

I've got her to 21, but the prospect of having to gear up to equal the twinks still in the levelling BGs (through no fault of their own in many cases, as all they want is to play games), is something else that slows down her levelling. I'm having to gear her up before going into BGs at x6, and put enchants of around L225 enchanting on her, to be at a similar level of gear to a lot of people in BGs, when I'd rather just PvP only.

Anyway, back to the questing...

How bad was it? I had a L70 warlock I'd been raiding with at the end of TBC, that only got to L71 when WotLK came out, before being abandoned due to questing fatigue (and that was in full Kara epics).

The only reason I have a L80 at all is because I could level a priest in instances (thanks to healer demand before the 3.1 dual-spec addition), and she got RaF boosted up to 59, alongside what is now my 59 druid twink.

Somehow my Warlock has made it to 78 (mostly through her being used to farm, affliction being an excellent spec for it, but also through a few instances).

I am literally going *sqeee* here, in the realisation that she can PvP to 80, and already has the bonus of being equipped in a full crafted PvP set. I might even finally give destro a go, seeing as everyone seems to be raving about it again.

What so you just patched it again? ..like, a few mins ago? because I'm sure he talking about the current situation.

all fine and dandy BUT , my druid is playing in the 60/69 bracket ATM .......... there is NO AV going on there ........ever , since the patch last wensday i have seen queue times of OVER 3 hour for AV and still no BG , i'm on my holiday so i have all the time in the world , so if i'm not seeing ANY AV how the hell do you suppose i gain xp there ??

even the popping up of AB and WSG are a pain with long queue times facerolling alliance players little to no xp gain and more

hell even EoTS won't pop up.

so what about this then , will you be "monitoring"it close for the next few months just as blizzard is "fixing"instance capacity problems 6 months over due and it's still not fixed ??

it would be nice to finally get some honost awnsers from a blizzard rep who actually says that the people in charge just don't give a damn.

at least then we would know we will never be treated as customers but just as jackasses.

Nobody cares about the minor exp nerf.. the queue times have become far too long.

you mean all other BGs actually yield more XP than pre 3.2.2 like right now? :o

cant say i noticed much of a change, then again ive never played anything but AV really until 3.2.2. last nights AB win yielded about 55k XP - thats ok, not overwhelming and certainly less than the same time spend questing.

Haha! I suppose looking at it like that you could say twink only (ie. XP locked) BGs offer more experience than some of the others.

At least on some battlegroups people in twink BGs can experience playing.


Once again Blizzard's actions are going to have a negative impact on server populations, as the only way without Blizzard taking positive action, for players to get into many BGs, is for them to transfer onto realms that already have high populations, if they can afford it, while others on lower population servers will be leaving the game for lack of available BGs.

I don't mind the decreased xp.

It's the queues. :)
