Hello fellow warriors,

I'm sure many has noticed that staying hit capped in 3.2 will be an impossibility as compared to Ulduar.

Iv compared a quick BiS profile on wowhead to showcase the gear choice:
http://www.wowhead.com/?profile=14312384

Using that gear who looks really BiS will net you a total of 50 hitrating.. and a crazy high 302 Expertise.

Sure you can swap in more hit gear from 245 items and even T9 258 legs but they are not BiS when it comes to surviving and beating the hardest encounters.

Has blizzard forgot hit on the highend plate tanking gear or do they think expertise makes up for it?

I just want to know..

/cheer

EDIT: Typo

Why don't you use t9 chest? Surely the extra avoidance is worth more than 6 stamina, which you'd get from that extra socket. And your expertise will decrease. Plus, there are very nice 245 boots and bracers from 10man heroic, with hit rating. Having the highest itemlevel doesn't make an item BiS automatically. And you can always start eating +hit food, that alone is worth +1.5% hit.

BiS for what? Certainly not for fights where high threat matters. I'd say your gear list is flawed.

I agree with Gurluk, t9 chest is probably a better choice. And really, why put stamina gems in every socket? You can just aswell use def/sta or hit/sta in yellow sockets and dodge/sta or exp/sta in red ones since every socket bonus is stamina now. So you don't really loose out on that much stamina compared to the extra def/hit/dodge or expertise you get.

BiS is the gear that benefits you the most. Use Ulduar gear if you're so bothered about losing a lot of hit, taking a few of the high-hit pieces might help more than taking higher ilvl gear in some fights.

Personally, that's what I'm doing aswell

Q u o t e:
His BiS list looks 90% the same as what I have planned too, except that I went for 4/5. I wouldn't worry too much about hit rating btw, last week I tanked heroic Valkyrs with 20 hit rating and it's probably the most threat required fight in ToC.

Also I still firmly believe 30 stam in every socket except 1 red for the meta activation is the optimal choice. 6 stam socket bonuses really don't do it for me.

Cheers,

But i still believe that blizzard simply overlooked the massive amount of difference between the hit gear and expertise gear in ToC. Needing ulduar lvl gear to keep hit cap is just stupid :(

245-258 pieces for a warrior tank with expertise: 12 (only counting Alliance).
245-258 pieces for a warrior tank with hit: 5 (only counting Alliance).

Imo they could even that number out abit.

No.

BiS is the best item for that slot regardless how well or bad it is in synergy with the rest of your gear, nothing else.

Nonsense. 5% hit or so is enough. So, Draenei +1%. Hit food +1.5%. Ranged weapon + 0.7%. 10 man heroic Bracers + 1.3%. 10 man heroic Boots + 1.4%. 6% total. Then there is also a weapon enchant with 0.8% hit. And even a gloves enchant with 0.6% hit. I'm not even suggesting to use a dps weapon with hit on it, which is a viable alternative now.

Really don't see the problem. If you're trying to stick to the original +expertise food, which was widely considered the tank's food, well now that you're so full of expertise, why not switch to hit? Experiment. If you have a retridin in the raid, and any nonwarrior offtank, you shouldn't even care about hit. Expertise is a much better mitigation stat.

Precisely. However a BiS item is not necessariry the one with the highest item level. Look at Mjolnir. O maybe remember Dragonspine Trophy? So how come your list consists of only items with the highest item level?

Gosh some of you are hopeless, so to summarize i should:

Use sub par items to get my hit rating up
Gem for some +hit
Enchant for some +hit
------------------------------
= Get more hit, and lose stamina, avoidance and mitigation. My healers would love me for that..

wow that's really helpfull, i could never have figured out that by myself.

The topic here isn't about gimping stats to get more hit, its about trying to get blizzard to answer why they didn't include more and better hit gear for tanks to use.

There are 2.4 times the amount of +Expertise tanking gear in ToC compared to +Hit, none thinks thats odd?

If so, then I'm afraid your initial question is wrongly formulated. So is the topic's name.

Define BiS. Best in Slot. There are two tanking weapons in Coliseum. Both, same in item level. You chose one, but not the other. The one you chose has Armor. The other one has more avoidance. Why? You like stamina, yet you didn't include both Satrina's Scarabs in your profiler. Why? No hard feelings, but these are the questions you have to answer before you consider something BiS and not. I am saying this because from an outside unbiased view, your gear list simply looks like a bunch of items with the highest item level stacked together.

And let me repeat that - the item level does not make an item BiS. Imagine you had a choice between your usual Monarch Crab JC trinket, and that new one from 10man Crusader heroic - the one with dodge, and armor on use. The difference in item level is insane. Which one would you use?
