I don't get why it should be Garrosh to begin with. I mean, he's a relatively new figure in the Horde. Why does he outrank so many already? He has about as much claim to being warchief as Eitrigg imo.
Why Garrosh instead of Drek'Thar, if Saurfang dies? What about the other secondary leaders (Sylvanas, Vol'Jin or even Bloodoof)? I just don't get it... why on earth Garrosh?

Garrosh is the future.

If you ask why a relatively new character out ranks so mjany old figureheads of authority then play a horde character and complete all Northrend quests. Garrosh is basically the leader of the Horde in Northrend and every victory in Northrend counts as a Victory led by GARROSH. Something tells me that Garrosh will be held as the national hero after the Icecrown battle.

I more NPC in Dalaran doesn't evolve the story. It barely gives any reason what so ever for this dudes involvement never mind explaining night elf mages

If you have to read WoW history on wowwiki to follow the basic narrative of this game then that is probably an indication of bad storytelling.

Bliz should higher some TV writers and real novelists IMO

But i am worried about Garrosh as the warchief.. I fear the days of quasi-peace between the horde and alliance might be over.
Since we now have a FAKE king in stormwind, The king doesn't look anything like the old king who was locked up in an island somewhere (look it up).

hopefully there will be tension WITHIN the factions theirselves, too. That'd be really nice. Not "oh okay the WHOLE alliance/the WHOLE horde is that way"

Friction that stems from the misgivings between an orc with an inferiority complex and a racist mentally unballanced human.

You can throw whatever events you want in there, "bad guy does X and they think it was the other faction instead" or "faction X did something faction Y misinterpreted and then they duke it out", it still boils down to this:

We don't like these guys. And not in the "I'm rooting for the other team" kind of dislike, more in the "these *insert expletive here* are annoying me as a player and if I never heard of them again I'd be none the sadder".

Look, it's not that I believe I can never ever enjoy the story if it revolves around these two characters (varyan and garrosh), it's rather that so far their roles have been so downright retarded and imbecile in the highest order that I simply cannot relate or immerse myself. I just want someone to pull a knife, slit their throats and pretend it never happened.

Maybe these guys' performances were aimed at the wrestling "fake steroid feuds" crowd, I dunno, I just wish something better had taken their place - we're never going to get another Ulduar trailer, you know... :P

Alas, in the grand scheme of things, perhaps I shouldn't sound so upset. The game is enjoyable by and large, regardless of such plot contrivances.

Son of a legend, leader of Mag'har and Warsong, hero of Northrend. Orcs are a binding glue of the Horde, so a warchief will most likely come from there. Frostwolf and Warsong are pretty much the only strong clans left, so a leader should have support of those. The ONLY orc coming anywhere close to Garrosh' legacy apart from Thrall would be Drek'thar, leader of Frostwolves. But he's old and has no modern combat experience, whereas Garrosh has plenty of it. In the end, should something happen to Thrall, Garrosh is a logical successor.

Warcraft is a story yes, however.

I personally rolled alliance for the gnomes <3, the rest of the alliance is rubbish. The dwarf king isnt half bad but arthas is a failboat (when he was prince, and still is), the boy king was a failboat and the current rabies infected idiot warrior king is just terrible.

There is ONE good thing about alliance (apart from gnomes) and thats Tirion Fordring. He is made from so much awesomeness I get shivers.

Horde has (soon to be had?) all the good stuff. Thrall is GREAT...and Cairne....<3<3<3 Real leaders, the kind you can look up to, be proud of...

If they both disappear from the Horde...my god...

When Simbas dad died there was still cool characters left, and others introduced after about 30 seconds. When Thrall / Cairne dies, Garrosh and Cairnes yawnfest of a son takes over (?)

The good stories always have some bad in them, thats what makes you remember them. But in this case bad means usually sad or bittersweet, not just plain stupid.

If blizzard kills off or takes away all the actually cool characters that people care about, whats left?
